The Red Captain goes away

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will leave the club after the end of the season. His contract expires at the age of 34 years old and already is clear that this agreement will not be renewed. Is expected that today, the former England international will announce his decision. In the recent weeks, there was so much speculation about the future of Gerrard. Everybody expected that he will sign a new contract with his home club, but that will not happen. Another proof for the departure of Stevie G was the speech of the Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers. He said that the midfielder has earned the right to negotiate with other clubs mentioned by football tips . Gerrard have the opportunity to continue his career in the USA, where LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls showed that they are interested to take him. The Red Captain had promised to the leadership of Liverpool, that he would not move into any another English club. Frank Lampard did the same. Former Chelsea player left the team in the summer and signed with New York City, but was immediately disposed to Manchester City and will stay in the club till the end of the season.

Gerrard became third in the all time rankings by number of games played for Liverpool in the championship of England. Before him are only Ian Callaghan and Jamie Redknapp. Redknapp said last night on twitter that the decision of his long-time teammate is correct, but definitely this is sad news for Liverpool and the whole English football.

Gerrard made his debut for Liverpool in 1998 and has played 695 matches for Liverpool, with 180 goals scored. With "The Reds", he won the Champions League, UEFA Cup, "Community Shield", twice FA Cup, three times League Cup and two European Super Cups. The midfielder has 114 matches and 21 goals for England since 2000. He retired from the representative team after dropping in the group stage of the World Cup 2014 in Brazil.
